Our Week

Here’s a look at our weekly schedule at Strata

  • In Math, we do drills and warm-up activities before diving deeper into problems with our math teacher, Calder.

  • Science is taught by Sihem, and do hands-on experiments, mixed with on-paper activities using both our hands and our minds.

  • French is taught by Sihem, where we actively are learning and speaking French.

  • English Language Arts (ELA) is taught by Michael, (who also works with us on doing our yearly play in the winter) where we look through text and discuss it in open seminars.

  • Humanities is a winter-only project where we learn more about our history and how we came to be. This year we are working on and learning about Early Humans.

  • During Occupations we make plans for the markets coming up and work on making products to sell. We design and innovate new ideas for products and write them down for students to make for years to come.

  • In Health, we can ask anonymous questions about anything related to physical and mental well-being and have them explained by our teacher Calder.

  • Crash is our own musical, written and directed by our principal, Tony, and acted by Strata students. During this rotation, we are learning lines, painting the set backdrops and preparing for the play.

  • Creative Expressions and Physical Expressions are out way of expressing energy. In the morning, we usually go out somewhere for PE (for example, we might go to Gravity Climbing Gym, Skating at a local rink, etc). In the afternoon, we have lessons with professionals for a few topics that we can choose from (for example, sewing, storytelling, cooking, painting, botanical printing, songwriting, improv).

  • Care of the Environment is every couple of days, we do a deep clean of the school. Each student is assigned to a cleaning zone, which switches so that everyone has a chance to take care of the whole school.
